McQueen’s Armadillo shoes are one of his most eye-popping designs ever – inspired by the shape of the animal from which it takes its name, this shoe design actually also has a lot of similarities to a lobster claw. With 12 inch heels, these shoes had an incredibly small area for the wearer’s foot and became notorious after models at the Spring/Summer 2010 Plat Atlantis catwalk show refused to wear them over safety fears. Like most of McQueen’s catwalk shoe designs, the Armadillo shoes are extremely rare and not available to buy.
